LiveStream 5 Administration Guide

Device Group

Device Groups are an evolution of Computer Groups from previous versions of Getbusi web filtering. Device Groups can authorise access to clients based on their **IP address or range**, **subnet** or **MAC address**. This provides an alternative to user authentication which requires no input from the client.

Explicit Proxy

In an explicit proxy configuration, the client web browser is explicitly configured to use a proxy server, meaning the browser expects to send all its requests via a proxy. The browser is given the address and port number of the proxy service.

Intercepting Proxy

When an intercepting proxy (also known as a transparent proxy) service is configured, the client browser does **not** know its traffic is being processed by a proxy other than the origin server.

List Group

List Groups contain lists of web resources based on elements of a web request's destination such as the domain, URL, IP address, keywords or file-type. They can be used to create content filtering rules or global bypass rules.

Policy Group

Policy Groups are LiveStream's way of matching your user groups and device groups to your unique sets of policy rules. Each Policy Group has a unique name, a list of member groups, a default Policy Set and option time-based Policy Sets.

Policy Set

A Policy Set is a named collection of web access rules that can be applied to any number of Policy Groups. Applying a Policy Set to a Policy Group will afford web access to members of that Policy Group according to the rules defined within it.

User Group

The term "user group" refers to groups of users that have been synchronised from an external directory service such as Active Directory. Once synchronised with LiveStream 5, user groups must be joined as members your Policy Groups in order to grant them web access when they authenticate to use the proxy.
