Ophthalmic Pharmacopoeia
Enabling rapid pharmaceutical lookups for clinicians
The idea for Pharmacopoeia came from ophthalmologists at Sydney Eye Hospital. They found themselves frequently held up trying to reference current pharmaceutical info while on the move and dealing with patients. They needed a convenient way to look up drug details without breaking contact to make a phone call or go back to their office.
How it started
Getbusi built the first version of Pharmacopoeia nearly a decade ago. It launched just on Android and iPhone. We worked closely with Dr. Parth Shah and his team from the Sydney Eye Hospital to gather and format the latest drug data. This ensures that the key information can be retrieved and understood rapidly by clinicians.
The main features include:
- Quickly searching drugs by name, brands, or class
- The ability to favourite particular drugs for future reference.
- A dedicated section for intravitreal formulations.
How itβs going
The app has been positively received and adopted over the years, in Australia and beyond. It has streamlined the prescription process while also providing a valuable training resource for the next generation of ophthalmologists in New South Wales.
Several years ago Getbusi developed a web version of the app for use on laptops as well non-iPhone and non-Android devices. This also allowed for the introduction of live updates to the drug data sets in the app. This means that the Sydney Eye Hospital has the ability to instantly push out changes as they arise β another major advantage over the printed literature.
As of 2026 Getbusi continues to maintain and update the app for latest smartphones and platforms on behalf of the Sydney Eye Hospital Foundation.
