getbusi is administered by an intuitive, easy to use, browser based interface that can be accessed securely from web enabled computer.
Policy based web access management
getbusi is policy based. Policies allow different settings
and levels of access to be applied to different individuals or groups of users.
Policies define key areas, including;
- content filtering
- white lists
- managed filter lists
- file type restrictions
- data quotas
- bandwidth management
Time based policies allow different access policies to be applied at different times. As an example, time based policies could be used to allow employees web access only on their lunch break.
getbusi provides a full range of reporting options so that you can
see exactly how your network is being used. You can find out which are the most commonly
visited websites and how bandwidth is being utilised. You can find out which websites are
being visited, by whom and when.
The system also logs attempts to access blacklisted websites
and file types. All internal data can be accessed and custom reports
can be produced with as much or as little detail as you need.
Download quotas and access control
getbusi allows you to set download limits per file or user. This
can be done on a weekly, monthly, or per item basis. getbusi also enables you
to completely disallow Internet access by policy.
Once download limits are reached, a user will have their Internet access blocked or
their bandwidth limited. getbusi includes the option to credit users with additional
Internet access, and have their privileges immediately re-instated.
This feature prevents individuals monopolising bandwidth and degrading the Internet experience of others on the network. The download speed available to individuals can be reduced after a set amount of data is downloaded per item, or after their download quota is reached.
getbusi provides an industry leading proxy caching system for quick access to commonly used websites. With getbusi you do not need to buy a seperate, expensive proxy system.
A combination of a master (managed) blacklist, a local blacklist (Local Bad)
and a local whitelist (Local OK) gives you control over which type of websites
can be accessed or restricted. getbusi also allows for a whitelist setup
where only specified sites are able to be accessed.
The getbusi managed blacklist
The managed blacklist provides a combination of blacklists, from the USA and Europe.
getbusi then applies its own changes and additions to provide the most current
and highest quality blacklist.
Automatic blacklist updates
Every night the getbusi WAM server will synchronise to the
managed blacklist via the Internet. This ensures that the blacklist always remains current,
and offers maximum protection.
Local blacklist (Local Bad)
If you wish to ban a website that is not already blacklisted, you can add it under the Local Bad
menu. For example you may find that most data traffic comes from an unproductive website, such as
one that contains movie clips. The Local Bad feature lets you block such a site.
Local whitelist (Local OK)
Alternatively there may be times when a website has been automatically blacklisted that
you may want employees to be able to access. If so, the sites
can be added to the Local OK list to grant access. Adding a site to the Local OK list will
override all other lists.
For example if you have banned mp3 downloads, but add www.abc.net.au/music
to the Local OK list, users will still be able to download mp3s from the music section of
the ABC website.
Expression filtering
getbusi includes the option to scan URLs in real time to block out pages with crude
or pornographic expressions for ultimate protection. This will stop searches for inappropriate
material through most search engines.
File type banning
getbusi is able to prevent the download of undesirable file types. For
example you can choose to prevent the download of .exe files that may
contain a viruses, or large multimedia file types such as mp3s.
Seamless authentication and integration
getbusi seamlessly integrates with existing networks by interfacing with the most common authentication systems. This includes LDAP based systems as well as seamless and basic authentication for Windows NT/2000/2003.
