Hardware compatibility
The getbusi system is based on the industry leading RedHat® Enterprise Linux 3. To check hardware compatibility please visit RedHat's® hardware compatibility site by clicking here. Then select the 'Certified Systems' link for RedHat® Enterprise Linux 3.
Hardware specifications
The following hardware specifications are recommended. The specifications are tailored to suit the number of workstations that the getbusi system will support. Currently only 32 bit Intel® and MAC OSX® 10.4 based systems are supported.
The number of transactions per second you expect from your Internet connection should also be taken into consideration.
0 - 100 Workstations
Intel - P4 3GHz+, 512MB RAM, 80GB IDE hard disk or greater, CDROM, 10/100/1000 Ethernet. Monitor, keyboard and mouse are used for installation only.
Apple - 1.25 GHz G4 or better, 1GB RAM, 80GB hard disk or greater. Monitor, keyboard and mouse are used for installation only.
100 - 250 Workstations
Intel - P4 3GHz+, 1GB RAM, 120GB IDE hard disk or greater, CDROM, 10/100/1000 Ethernet. Monitor, keyboard and mouse are used for installation only.
Apple - Dual processor 2GHz G5 or better, 1.5GB RAM, 120GB hard disk or greater. Monitor, keyboard and mouse are used for installation only.
250+ Workstations
Intel - Dual processor P4 or XEON 2.5GHz+, 2GB RAM or greater (Please see memory notes below), 143GB SCSI hard disk or greater, CDROM, 10/100/1000 Ethernet. Monitor, keyboard and mouse are used for installation only.
Apple - Dual processor 2GHz Dual-core G5 or better (preferably an Xserve), 2GB RAM or greater (Please see memory notes below), 140GB Serial ATA 7200 RPM hard disk or greater. Monitor, keyboard and mouse are used for installation only.
1000+ Workstations
For sites that require support for 1000 or greater workstations contact getbusi for a custom hardware specification.
Memory
The amount of hard drive space used for cache storage also contributes to memory usage. For every 1GB or hard drive space used for cache storage you should allow 32MB of memory. Leaving a minimum 256MB of memory for the operating system.
Hard drive
It is recommended that you build a system large enough to hold 3 to 7 days worth of web traffic. You want between 10 to 25GB's of disk space for each Mbps of bandwidth available to web traffic.
